D & D & Me

So for the past few months I’ve been playing a role-playing game with a coworker once a month. This is not your wimpy video game like Final Fantasy or World of Warcraft. This is hardcore role-playing, Dungeons & Dragons style. Actually it’s called Arcana Evolved, but it’s apparently very similar to D&D. Anyway, I came across this video and thought it was pretty funny.

On the Spot

One of the things I like to show people when they come and visit me at the office is the GameSpot Live studio where they film video reviews, previews and some shows. On the Spot is GameSpot’s weekly live show where they show off new games and talk to developers and such. They’ll be quick to tell you that the best part is the viewer feedback, and I agree. An editor decided it would be a good idea to do a behind the scenes for the show, and here it is.

Ted Leo + MP3.com

Once upon a time I went to see Ted Leo play in SF… and life was swell. MP3.com just interviewed him about his most influential albums. I went ahead and put the movie on GameSpot User Videos so I could share it with all of you. Enjoy!

Riding Around Mt Tam

My brother and I went on a ride this weekend around Mt Tam. He puts a little digital camera in his helmet to record video. Here’s his video of me.

I also brought my video camera, so I'll put something together of him too, but it probably won't be as good. :(

MotoGP

Over the weekend I watched Faster, an “in-depth look at the MotoGP world championship, an event watched by more than 350 million people worldwide and considered the pinnacle of motorcycle sport.” At one point it shows John Hopkins playing MotoGP and comparing it to real life. He crashes and when his character reappears on the bike he says something like “man, stay down, take the rest of the day off.” Yet, when you see someone slide out in MotoGP they hop up as soon as they stop and run to their bike. If it’s still ridable they speed off on it. He said the only thing real in the game is the tracks. He can play the game to familiarize himself with the tracks.

Valentino Rossi won the MotoGP five years in a row. 2001-2005.

Last year Nicky Hayden won. Now he’s the center of the new MotoGP ’07 trailer.

This year’s MotoGP starts in four days. Woo hoo!
