History

The gpb kids consist of Jules and Mike, Genetics and Plant Biology majors extraordinaire. Jules and Mike first encountered one another in a class they took at UC Berkeley called The Secret Life of Plants. But of course they don’t remember each other from this class. They must have been so intent on getting a good grade. Yeah, that’s it.

Some years later they met again during a creek restoration event held by Friends of the Five Creeks. Upon greeting Jules, Mike made an ass out of himself.

“Hi my name is Juliana but my friends call me Jules.” - Jules
“So what should I call you?” - Mike
*awkward silence*

[Edit: Hold on hold on! Now, that doesn't make that much sense to me. As I (Jules) remember it-

Jules: "Hi, my name is Juliana, but my friends call me Jules."

Mike: "Oh, Jules sounds so friendly, but I feel weird calling you that, and I don't want to call you Juliana either"

Jules: "..."

Mike: "So what should I call you?"

*awkward silence*

Fortunately for Mike, Jules didn’t think too badly of Mike after this first real encounter. As it turned out, Jules and Mike ended up in Plant Systematics together during the spring ‘04 semester. They sat next to each other for the first few classes and after remembering the awkward first encounter they moved on to talking about what they had in common. Not much really, just anime. But never-the-less, they exchanged information and one day met to watch some anime at Jules’s place.

And the rest is history, so to speak. They starting dating sometime in January ‘04 and Jules has been fending Mike off ever since. Today she has the art down to a science and can easily fend Mike off without breaking a sweat. They spend a lot of time hanging out and being goofy.
